Job Description POSITION
Summary:
Under direct supervision, provides support to end-users for PC, server or mainframe applications, and hardware. May interact with network services, software systems engineering and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems. Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties. Recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems. Refers more complex problems to intermediate and/or senior level.
Installs, troubleshoots, services, and repairs personal computers, network equipment such as servers, modems, multiplexers, related PC software, telephones, cables, and connectors. Provides personal computer, hardware, and software support. Installs, services, and repairs personal computers. Connects personal computers and terminals to existing data networks. Instructs users in the use of personal computers and networks. Investigates information, network, and communications needs of users. Uses appropriate ticketing system to track work
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: Please list by order of priority and, if possible, provide the percentage of time spent on the activity all should equal 100%.
1. Installs, troubleshoots, services, and repairs personal computers, network equipment such as servers, modems, multiplexers, related PC software, telephones, cables, and connectors.
2. Provides personal computer, hardware, and software support. Installs, services, and repairs personal computers. Connects personal computers and terminals to existing data networks.
3. Instructs users in the use of personal computers and networks.
4. Investigates information, network, and communications needs of users.
5. Uses appropriate ticketing system to track work.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY
USED:
Computer, server, modems, multiplexers, telephones, cables and connectors.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The working environment will be office based.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Sitting for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of 25lbs or less.

Experience: MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
Certifications: This position requires DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level I certification and corresponding Computing Environment (CE) certification. Must have at least one of the following 8570 certifications: A+, Network +, or SSCP. Must have at least one of the following CE certifications: MCP, MCTS.
Experience:
Full knowledge and understanding of PC computer software and hardware Installation Ability to operate standard computers and peripheral equipment; use analytical skills to diagnose and troubleshoot components such as hardware, software, networking, and applications; perform assigned tasks quickly and accurately; follow oral and written directions; use telephone; write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, and fellow employees.
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the position. Combination includes, but is not limited to graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and at least 1 year related experience as a Technical Support or PC Technician.
