# _Position Summary_
Under close guidance provides basic electronics support in the maintenance, alignment, and repair of communications and remote supervisory equipment required in the operation of microwave, fiber optics, computer, supervisory remote, telephone, and radio systems.
Duties:
# _Essential Job Functions_
A. Assists in the installation and field repair of all assigned data and voice communications equipment.
B. Identifies and becomes familiar with the basic test equipment necessary for the proper operation of communications, remote supervisory, and EMS computer equipment.
C. Reads, understands, and interprets (with direct guidance) elementary engineering drawings, manufacturers'' documents, and other documentation needed for the installation and testing of existing and/or new communications and remote supervisory equipment.
D. Observes and becomes familiar with the proper operation of emergency power systems used in support of communications equipment, including generators, chargers and battery systems.
E. Learns proper techniques in the troubleshooting and repair of communications and supervisory equipment to the board level.
F. Assists in the planning, troubleshooting, and implementation of networked communication system components.
G. Assists in the performance of preventative maintenance on emergency generators, chargers, battery systems, and other equipment at communications installations.
H. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
# _Education and Experience (1 or 2)_

1. Associate''s degree in Applied Science in Computer Network Support Technology, or equivalent, is required.

2. Associate''s degree in Electronics Technology, or equivalent, with one year of experience in client/server systems, computer network planning, design, and implementation, or equivalent, with working knowledge of TCP/IP network protocol is required.
_Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required_

Knowledge of, or be able to learn quickly the operations of basic communication systems and their relationship to the overall operation of the transmission system.

Ability to read, understand, and interpret (with guidance) technical material for communications system equipment.

Knowledge of Telecommunications is strongly desired.

Ability to quickly learn to select and use basic test equipment needed to maintain assigned equipment, including microwave radios, two-way radios, fiber optic equipment, telephone PBX, SCADA equipment, generators, etc.

Knowledge of computer and related equipment system networking, including network planning and design, network implementation, and TCP/IP protocol.

Must be familiar with or be able to learn quickly the use of power tools and basic test equipment such as frequency generators, transmission test sets, oscilloscopes, multimeters, personal computers, battery tester, etc.

Must be able to, or be able to quickly learn how to read, understand, and interpret (with guidance) engineering drawings, manufacturers'' instruction books, and other documentation needed in the installation and testing of existing and new communications and supervisory equipment.

Must be able to work effectively in a cooperative team environment.

Must have or be able to obtain a MS driver''s license.

Must be able to satisfactorily complete security sensitive background screening.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
